Overview

The Cohasset Housing Authority (CHA) is a State-aided Public Housing Authority and a local government organization under State Law, with a five member Board of Commissioners, four of whom stand for town election and the fifth is appointed by the Governor. Typically CHA Board meetings are held once a month.

Mission

The Board of Commissioners pursues its mandate of providing affordable housing for all Cohasset residents by raising awareness of what the Housing Authority has to offer, and by researching new opportunities to create affordable housing that is safe and secure for those with the greatest need. The Board is responsible for reviewing and updating regulatory policies and procedures that the State provides for all Housing Authorities.

The CHA owns and manages 64 one bedroom units of housing for elderly and disabled people, with subsidy from the State. This housing is available to persons over the age of 60, and younger disabled individuals. At this time the CHA does not have any family housing. The CHA also owns 12 units of housing managed by the Department of Developmental Services.
