Since 1979 the town has been subject to a court ordered injunction on behalf of the Commonwealth to address specific wastewater disposal obligations:
-
361 homes were stipulated to be connected to the sewer system no later than June 30, 2012.
-
Currently 96% of homes have been connected - the remaining homes are either under contract to be connected, recently resolved private easement issues, been assessed fines, or have been granted conditional waivers by the Board of Health.
The collaborative efforts of the Town Manager's Office, Board of Health, and the Cohasset Sewer Commission have been instrumental to the success in nearly satisfying the conditions of the Judgment - the Judgment is anticipated to be lifted.
