Welcome to the Office of the Town Clerk!
The Office of the Town Clerk is considered the heart of local government and is usually the first stop for many people walking into Town Hall. Our Office is committed to providing professional, friendly and compassionate service to all who enter and strives to be a cooperative partner with our departments, boards and committees.
The Town Clerk (and office of the Town Clerk):
- Maintains and processes Vital Records including issuance of Birth, Death and Marriage Certificates
- Serves as the Chief Election Official and is responsible for the Town's Election activities and execution of Local, State and Federal Elections.
- Issues All Facility Stickers, Dog Licenses, Business Certificates and Raffle & Underground Gas Tank Storage Permits
- Is the Public Records Officer and coordinates Public Record Requests between the Public and Town Departments
Marriage Intentions are by appointment only- please email: elegge@cohassetma.org for an appointment. Appointments will only be made within 60 days of the date of the marriage. The fee is $25.00 payable by cash, check or charge. Both parties must be present to complete the marriage intention paperwork and show ID. Please note there is a 3 day waiting period from the date the intentions are filed and the date the marriage certificate may be picked up from our office.
Town Hall Business Hours:
Monday-Thursday 8am-4:30pm
and
Friday 8am-12pm.
Please note we no longer offer Notary Public Services.
