Solid, Hazardous & Medical Waste

Responsibilities

• Assign the site for all hazardous waste disposal facilities
• Assign the sites of sanitary landfills, refuse incinerators, waste storage or treatment plants, and refuse transfer stations
• Consider and act upon applications for permits for the disposal of special wastes
• Collect sharp needles in the Board of Health Sharp Collection kiosk on the first floor of Town Hall
• Ensure proper disposal of home sharps in the Town
• Issue notices of violation to waste generators
• Ensure compliance with medical and biological waste disposal regulations
