Health Care, Diseases & Recordkeeping


  • Processing and recordkeeping regarding burial permits for all deaths that occur in the Town of Cohasset;
  • Maintaining relationships with local service and utility providers in order to certify serious illness, thus prohibiting disconnection of said utilities in the affected residence;
  • Monitoring infectious and reportable diseases in the Town of Cohasset;
  • Providing certain vaccines as required by law;
  • Supervising disinfection of dwellings which have housed a person who died of a disease dangerous to the public health;
  • Receiving and investigating confirmed and suspected cases of food poisoning in the Town;
  • Receiving notices and coordinating with inspectors from the Massachusetts division of Occupational Safety regarding violations of health laws or nuisances in industrial establishments;
  • Directing the operation of Town medical, dental, and health clinics;
  • Requiring the vaccination of inhabitants of the Town;
  • Appoint school physicians;
  • Providing vaccines as needed;
  • Holding flu clinics as needed;
  • Providing education to residents as requested;
  • Performing site visits to homebound seniors.
