Description and Mission of the Sewer Department:

The Sewer Commission was established by an Act of the State Legislature in 1962.  The Commission is responsible for establishing and implementing the policies which manage the Town's sewage collection system and wastewater treatment plant.   The Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) is currently operated by United Water.  The WWTP is continuing to produce a high quality effluent utilizing its innovative membrane technology.  Some of the responsibilities the Cohasset Sewer Commission has is to respond to concerns and complaints, review the operation of the treatment plant and collection systems, and tracking budgetary issues and future planning.

Recent Awards:

  • The Cohasset Sewer Commission is proud to announce that the Department of Environmental Protection has recognized Cohasset as the recipient of the 2013 Award of Excellence for Treatment Plant Performance.  The Sewer Commission would like to recognize United Water and Coughlin Environmental Services for continuing to adhere to the high quality standards we expect from our partners in operations.
